EMSA Approved Preventive Health Practices for Child Care


Welcome to the EMSA Approved Preventive Health Practices for Child Care event!

This is the 8-hour course that is required by Community Care Licensing in order to become a licensed family childcare provider. The course includes:
  • Lead Poisoning Prevention
  • Recognition, management & prevention of infectious disease
  • Sanitary Food Handling
  • Child Nutrition
  • Identification and reporting of signs and symptoms of child abuse
  • Immunizations
  • Prevention of childhood injuries
  • Emergency preparedness & evacuation
  • Caring for children with special needs
1 . Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 , From 1:30PM – 5:30PM

2 . AND Thursday, August 14th, 2025, From 1:30PM – 5:30PM

Job Announcement : Family Services Specialist I

Solano Family & Children’s Services creates connections for families and child care providers to support the healthy development of children for a thriving community. We hire individuals who have a strong work ethic and are looking for a career that supports our mission and impact in Solano County.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The Family Services Specialist will collect documentation and interview families to determine eligibility for subsidized child care services as well as completing recertifications to determine continuing eligibility. This person will maintain a client caseload averaging 130 cases from one funding source, adhering to program policies and procedures. They will conduct caseload reviews and complete caseload reports while maintain accurate information in the subsidy database, to ensure appropriate services to families.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate has strong communication, organization, customer service, and critical thinking skills which will be used to explain program funding rules, regulations, and policies to clients. They must have knowledge of and the ability to use computers for client data, word processing and a calendar of events. This person must be able to work remotely as needed, work as part of a team and be available to travel throughout California to attend conferences, workshops, trainings, and community meetings.

• Two years’ experience in a position involving community or social service work

• One year interviewing and caseload management experience

• Experience determining eligibility for a public assistance program preferred

• Degree or certificate in human services Or similar area of study preferred
