This is the 8-hour course that is required by Community Care Licensing in order to become a licensed family child care provider. The course includes:

• Recognition, management & prevention of infectious disease
• Sanitary Food Handling
• Child Nutrition
• Identification and reporting of signs and symptoms of child abuse
• Immunizations
• Prevention of childhood injuries
• Lead poisoning prevention
• Emergency preparedness & evacuation
• Caring for children with special needs

***This is a three-part training. You must attend all sessions to receive your certificate.

Lead Poisoning Prevention in Child Care Settings

Effective July 1, 2020, licensing applicants are required to take a Preventive Health Practices training which includes Lead Poisoning Prevention. This course, specifically for lead topics is to help those individuals who previously took the 8-hour health and safety training before June 30, 2020, without the lead poisoning prevention topics and are getting licensed AFTER July 1, 2020. This is the EMSA - approved, stand-alone training to add to your previous Preventive Health Practices certification.
